2023 Feed Me, I'm Yours Breastfeeding Seminar

This class is offered free of charge to everyone. A must if you plan to breastfeed! Whether this is your first baby or you just didn’t have a great breastfeeding experience before, this class will help prepare you for a successful breastfeeding journey! Class content includes: - Breastfeeding basics:  How to know you’re doing it right - Avoiding common breastfeeding pitfalls - How to know your baby is getting enough - Pumping:  Which pumps are best, going back to work, storing milk - What you really need vs. products you can live without - The benefits of breastfeeding Social distancing will be implemented, and the participant will be screened. This class is offered free of charge to everyone. Class content includes: - How to care for your newborn - Newborn bath - Circumcision and cord stump care - SIDS prevention - Common newborn appearances (molding, milia, rash, etc) - Tips for calming a fussy baby - What you really need vs. products you can live without - Car seat safety information Car seat safety is now part of this class instead of a separate class. Information will be provided by police officers who are certified car seat technicians. You may bring your car seat installed in your vehicle and the car seat techs will assess it, ensuring that it is properly installed, and that it is the correct seat for your baby. Social distancing will be implemented, and the participant will be screened. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided. Heart disease affects millions of people every year and makes up a significant number of patients seen in healthcare, so training in handling cardiac emergencies is a necessity. The program is designed for physicians, nurses, paramedics, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners and respiratory therapists. It's also a required course for paramedics in our EMS system as well as nurses in our critical care unit and emergency department. Understanding Grief

Understanding Grief, a free eight-week support group, is available for people who have lost a loved one. The group will meet from 6:30 to 8 pm on Mondays, April 24 through June 19, in the Center for Healthy Living second floor conference room at 1004 Health Center Dr. It is hosted by Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice. When someone you love dies, it can be hard to understand the complex and painful thoughts and feelings you often have. Safe Sitter Program

Safe Sitter is a one-day, nationally certified course designed for children ages 11 and up. Taught in a fun and interactive format, Safe Sitter teaches participants safe and nurturing child care techniques, behavior management skills, and appropriate responses to medical emergencies. In a Safe Sitter class, students learn through lively discussion, practice and role-play about a variety of topics including baby sitting ethics and etiquette and the business aspects of baby sitting. Class materials are included in the $30 fee. This course is open to community members. Class size is limited. Memory Day

A special day of remembrance geared toward children. In celebration of Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice Memory Day’s 23rd anniversary, children ages five to 15 are invited to participate in the event. Memory Day will focus on cherished memories children have of people in their lives they have lost. As part of the event, children will pay tribute to their special loved ones, and participate in group activities focusing on grief. There is no charge to participate in Memory Day, however, an adult is requested to stay with the child during the program. Event will take place in the lobby of Praire Pavilion 2 on the SBL Campus. Heart disease affects millions of people every year and makes up a significant number of patients seen in healthcare, so training in handling cardiac emergencies is a necessity. The program is designed for physicians, nurses, paramedics, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners and respiratory therapists. It's also a required course for paramedics in our EMS system as well as nurses in our critical care unit and emergency department. Rotary High School Athletic Heart Screening

Area Rotary clubs formed a unique partnership with the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation to help prevent premature deaths of seemingly healthy young athletes. Rotary clubs raise funds to provide free heart screenings to area high school sophomore athletes to uncover dangerous electrical abnormalities of the heart in addition to cardiomyopathy, an abnormality which can cause sudden death of athletes in the heat of competition. Twice a year, Sarah Bush Lincoln provides this free screening program to high school sophomore athletes. This course is ideal for those interested in Natural Childbirth and Active Labor methods.   Class content includes: - Pregnancy discomforts and danger signs - How to know when you’re really in labor - Stages of labor - Pain management during labor - Maximizing your labor progress - Common medical procedures in labor and delivery - Induced and augmented labors - Cesarean delivery - Guided tour of the Women & Children’s Center with one of our very own labor nurses! - Numerous birth videos PLUS focused teaching on the following topics: - Breathing and relaxation during labor - Birth partner’s role in labor - Understanding postpartum Social distancing will be implemented, and participants will be screened. 2024 Bootie Kamp, Infant Care Seminar

This class is offered free of charge to everyone. Class content includes: - How to care for your newborn - Newborn bath - Circumcision and cord stump care - SIDS prevention - Common newborn appearances (molding, milia, rash, etc) - Tips for calming a fussy baby - What you really need vs. products you can live without - Car seat safety information Car seat safety is now part of this class instead of a separate class. Information will be provided by police officers who are certified car seat technicians. You may bring your car seat installed in your vehicle and the car seat techs will assess it, ensuring that it is properly installed, and that it is the correct seat for your baby. Social distancing will be implemented, and the participant will be screened. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided.
